Once you've created a WhatsApp for Business App in Meta you can configure Laminin WhatsApp for Business
1. Log into Laminin and click on the Admin menu
2. Click on Integrations
3. Click on WAB Accounts
4. Click on "Add" to add a new WhatsApp Config
5. Type the name of this new WhatsApp Config
6. Add a Verify Token
Ensure this is a strong token that cannot be guessed
7. Type the Welcome Reply which is the message that a client will receive when sending a new message to your WhatsApp number
8. Click on Save
9. Go to Meta for Developers (developers.facebook.com) and open your WhatsApp for Business app. Click on Webhooks.
10. Click on the dropdown
11. Select WhatsApp Business Account
12. Click on Subscribe to this object
13. Go back to Laminin to your WhatsApp Config and copy the URL in the "Messages Endpoint" field
14. Back at Meta for Developers, paste the Messages Endpoint in the "Callback URL" field
15. Go back to Laminin and copy the Verify Token
16. Back at Meta for Developers paste the copied token in the "Verify token" field
17. Click on "Verify and save"
18. Refresh your Laminin WhatsApp Config page, it should now show "Is Verified" with a green tick
19. Back at Meta for Developers, click on "Subscribe"
Also note the API version, in this example it is v19.0. This must be updated in Laminin in your WhatsApp Config in the "Api Url" field. Refer to Step 38 for more information.
20. You will receive a notification that you are successfully subscribed to messages. Click on Close.
21. Next let's configure a WhatsApp for Business number that will be used to send and receive WhatsApp messages
22. Click on WhatsApp
23. Click on API Setup
24. Click on the From dropdown
25. Click on Add phone number
26. Enter your Business name
27. Click on the Category dropdown
28. Select the category that best describes your business
29. You can optionally provide a Business description and click on "Next" when done
30. Click on the Country Code drop down and select your country
31. In this example I typed ZA and selected +27 for South Africa's country code
32. Enter your phone number that you would like to configure for WhatsApp for Business
Please note you will need to be able to receive either a text message or phone call on this number
33. In this example I chose "Phone call" as the verification method
34. You will then receive an automated phone call on this number from Meta with a code which you need to enter. Click on Next once done.
35. The Phone Number is now verified. Select the new phone number in the From dropdown and copy the "Phone number ID".
36. Go back to Laminin to your WhatsApp Config and paste the Phone Number Id into the "Phone Number Id" field
37. Enter the phone number in the "Phone Number" field
38. You can also update the API URL with the correct version, in this case v19.0
Refer to step 19 for more information on where to find the API version
39. Click on Save
40. Lastly we will configure a permanent access token
41. Go to business.facebook.com, select your business and click on "Business Settings"
42. Click on "System users"
43. Click on Add
44. Read through and accept the non-discrimination policies
45. Enter a name for the System User and select Admin as the System User Role. Click on "Create system user" when done.
46. Once the System User is created, click on "Generate New Token"
47. Choose the App that this token will be generated for, in this example I chose my WhatsApp for Business app
48. Choose when this token will expire
49. Scroll down to the bottom and tick the whatsapp_business_management and whatsapp_business_messaging permissions and click on Generate Token
50. Highlight and copy the Access Token, then click on Ok
Note you will not be able to access this token again, so ensure you copy it before clicking on Ok. If you make a mistake, you will need to generate a new token following the steps from Step 46.
51. Go back to the Laminin WhatsApp Config and paste the newly created token in the "Api Token" field
52. Click on Save
